REHAU Radiant Heating Systems Offer Comfort, Efficiency and Compatibility with Alternative Geothermal Energy Sources
LEESBURG, Va., Jan. 22, 2008 – REHAU offers its radiant heating system as one of the most comfortable and efficient types of heating systems available today. Radiant systems distribute heat uniformly throughout a room, and are suitable for use in commercial, residential, new construction, restoration, and remodeling applications. Easily integrated into new or existing building designs, radiant systems can be installed either as a sole source of heat or in conjunction with other heat distribution systems.
“With traditional heating systems, most of the warm air stays near the ceiling,” said Michael Dietrich, heating business team manager at REHAU. “REHAU’s radiant system concentrates heat where a room’s occupants are located, allowing thermostatic controls to be lowered as much as 4°F (2°C) to reduce fuel consumption without sacrificing comfort levels.”
REHAU’s radiant system circulates heated water through a system of RAUPEX cross-linked polyethylene (PEXa) pipe installed beneath a floor’s surface. It additionally includes the EVERLOC fitting system and pre-assembled PRO-BALANCE manifolds which offer individual circuit balancing and purging capabilities. The system’s operating temperature range (90° to 140°F or 32° to 60°C) produces consistent heat, and is also ideally compatible with alternative energy sources such as geothermal heat exchange.
“Integrating REHAU radiant heating systems with alternative energy sources such as geothermal heat exchange offers added energy conservation,” Dietrich said. “Independent of the heat source, radiant heating offers up to 30 percent savings as the system operates at lower temperatures. When a radiant heating system is linked with a ground source heat pump energy supply, the savings increase even more.”
REHAU radiant heating systems typically maintain floor surfaces at 70° to 8°F (21° to 28°C) for maximum comfort. Also, as a non-forced air system, radiant floor heating contributes to improved air quality via the reduced circulation of airborne dust and other allergens.
